Structural Composure

The jury notedAs winner of Structural Composure, Stijn de Weerd is recognised for the quiet severity he brings to spatial judgement. Trained at the Amsterdam Academy of Architecture and two years with Anne Holtrop, he co-founded Space Encounters in 2016 and Beyond Space in 2021, and has since worked on Schiphol and the Sluisbuurt. His own account of the reconfigurable grid was that the infills should read as infills, which is the whole discipline in a sentence. The jury notes that he teaches and lectures widely, and suspects he enjoys the questions more than the answers.
