The jury notedAs winner of Creative Restraint, Job Van Der Sande is recognised for an architectural sensibility that knows when enough is precisely enough. At BASE, a preference for no colour and the directness of mineral strip suggest a practice grounded in material clarity, while Salou and the Dolly Dots leave room for less predictable references. The conclusion, “It’s ok,” is delivered with admirable economy.

The jury notedHaving reviewed the evidence, and some of the gossip, we found, on closer inspection, an almost reckless commitment to no colour, a standard that BASE appears to have made habitual and a near-spiritual devotion to minerale strip. No further evidence was sought, nor would it have helped. The phrase “It’s ok” is understood to have settled the discussion. We award it without reservation, and with a trace of envy.
